CERTIL REMY
Award-winning full-stack software engineer, mentor, and instructor
I was born at Saint-Marc (Artibonite, Haiti). My passion for technology and sharing with my community made me one of the most popular Haitian developers. I started with video games using RPG Maker studio. I switched to Unity 3D in 2014; then I published my first game to google play-store (Indabin). I published my second game in 2015 where I got 2000 + downloads (Faco leaves). While building more capacity, I started working on an educational game ‘Play Institute’ where I won the first prize at Digital Jam Haiti in 2015. In 2016, I reached the record of 30 000+ downloads with my new game Neg Bannan.
In 2017, I started web development with WordPress, where I published my first website; Achiv mizik. Six months later, it became one of the most visited music websites in Haiti with 100,000 users monthly. My love for web development began with Noukod in 2018 at Flatiron School, and Microverse in 2019, where I learned Ruby on Rails, React and redux. I turned the WordPress version of my popular website into a Ruby on Rails app. I continued working on my educational game, katkat-game, with my team, which won first place at InovaTic 2018. My passion led me to join the Laswenyay squad in 2019, where I built the first online Haitian healing platform for my community. I’m open to sharing more of my experience and work with you.
